Rizzo/and the Italo-American Community/Organized as the Marconi Memorial/Association Incorporated/Frank P. Didio, M. D., President (On commemorative stone:) City of Philadelphia/Recreation Facility/Provided with financial assistance from/Commonwealth of Pa./Department of Community Affairs/Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. Guglielemo Marconi, (1874-1937) an Italian born inventor and physicist, successfully experimented with wireless telegraphy. His work made transatlantic communications possible. In 1909, he was a co-winner of the Nobel prize for physics.
