Sculpture was created as part of the "Art in Public Places" program initiated by University System of New Hampshire Chancellor Kasper C. Marking in 1979 when he was president of Plymouth State College. It was fabricated under the direction of Robert Morton, Associate Professor of Art. According to the artist, "highway constructions like overpasses, sign structures and dividers, radio towers, high tension lines and bleachers have all contributed to my work."
