    Description: 
    The facade of the Michigan National Bank is adorned with reliefs that illustrate the early history of the City of Grand Rapids. Images include Native Americans, tomahawks, canoes, pine trees, and native animals. On the corner of the building is a standing figure of a Native American and above him is a lion clutching a shield. Flanking the doorway are corbel figures holding coins.

    Provenance: 
    Formerly located Grand Rapids Trust Company, 77 Monroe Street, N.W., Grand Rapids, Michigan until early 1940s.
    Remarks: 
    The reliefs were designed for the Grand Rapids Trust Company which owned the building until the early 1940s. Originally the doorway was flanked by two wolverines perched on top of marble columns, but these two reliefs were removed, along with the name of the original bank, by the new owners in the early 1940s.
