    Remarks:
The sculpture is a bronze cast of the original plaster sculpture exhibited at the Columbian Exposition of 1893. Rogers presented the original plaster work to the city of Manchester in 1895. The drive to cast the sculpture in bronze was led by the G.A.R. Louis Bell Post No. 3. Cost of the sculpture was $4,680; cost of the pedestal and foundation was $2,163.79. The bronze was cast by Gorham Manufacturing; R. P. Stevens did the stonework.
In the early 1970's it was discovered that vandals had removed the scrolled map from Lincoln's lap. In 1976 a copy of the scroll was executed by di Bicarri and Shure and cast by the Paul King Foundry. Funds for the new scroll were raised by the students at the Manchester Central High School.
