    Standing figure of a small boy in a ragged sailor suit and a straw hat. He holds a nest in his proper left hand with eggs in it. There is a broken egg at his feet. He stands beside a tree stump on his proper left.

    Remarks: 
    This piece was exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. The child who modeled for the piece was Bill Rariden, who later became a baseball player. He was catcher for the Boston Braves, New York Giants and the Cincinnati Reds in the early 20th century. IAS files contain an undated clipping from the Indianpolis Star in IAS files which illustrates the sculpture and says its was exhibited in Chicago in 1893 at the World's Fair.
