Inscription:  (Bronze plaque on base:) AZTEC WOMAN OF TEHUANTEPEC/BY/DONAL HORD, N.A./1935 signed Description:  Figurative stone sculpture of an Aztec woman, sitting cross-legged, holding a jug in her lap from which water flows. The woman wears a two-piece dress with a twisted rope belt, and has her hair in two long braids. The woman is seated on a two-tiered octagonal base covered with ceramic tiles which forms the centerpiece to a fountain. The fountain was designed by Richard Requa after one in Guadalajara, Mexico. Hord was commissioned to produce the figure, which was completed in time for the California Pacific International Exposition.
