Description:
"The sculpture is a maze of 27 brick walls that radiate out from a center point. There are three graduating sizes of the walls with 4 inch gaps between the alternating brick work. From an aerial perspective the walls form an abstract star. Where the walls meet small wooden benches act as braces. Steel rods support the brick walls and anchor them to the ground. The wall heights range from 3 1/2 ft. to 9 ft."

Remarks:
Commissioned by the Cincinnati Sculpture Council and the Hyde Park Neighborhood Council for the city's bicentennial in 1988. Funded by the Ohio Arts Council, Cincinnati Sculpture Council, the Fine Arts Fund, and private donations. The sculpture is named for Antares, the double star discovered in 1845 by Ormsby McKnight Mitchel, founder of the Mount Lookout Observatory.
IAS files contain a copy of a fund raising flyer, and copies of articles from Cincinnati Post, March 16, 1987, which discuss Tacha's proposal for the sculpture; Eastern Hills Journal, Feb. 18, 1987, which discusses fund raising; Cincinnati Enquirer, Dec. 20, 1987, which discusses construction and continued fund raising; Cincinnati Post, Sept. 27, 1988, which mentions upcoming dedication; Eastern Hills Journal, Oct. 5, 1988, which discusses dedication; Cincinnati Enquirer, April 25, 1989 and June 13, 1989, both of which discuss damage by vandals; and Cincinnati Enquirer, Oct. 3, 1989, which discusses subsequent repair of damage. In 1997, the artist noted that the "one wall that was tipped over by vandals was either shortened by a couple of feet or removed, and visible steel bracing was used on several other walls."
