Formerly in the collection of Kendall Whaling Museum, 27 Everett Street, P.O. Box 297, Sharon, Massachusetts 02067 until 2001.

In 2001, the entire collection of paintings and sculptures in the Kendall Whaling Museum was transferred to the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Former Kendall Whaling Museum accession number: CW-181.

The sculpture was commissioned by the Kendall Whaling Museum and is a reproduction of an extinct Tlingit motif. It was designed after photographs in the collection of the Amerian Museum of Natural History (New York City). The sculpture is one of three whales sculpted for the museum as part of the "Three Whales" project funded in part by a grant from the Sharon Arts Lottery.
