Remarks:
The sculpture pays tribute to the efforts of 2506th Brigade, which made an unsuccessful effort in April 1961 to overthrow Castro's regime in Cuba. Monolo Reboso was a veteran of the Bay of Pigs invasion. In May of 1984 vandals set a stack of tires on fire on the sculpture causing a crack in the marble from the heat and leaving a pile of soot. IAS files contain articles from the Miami News, May 18, 1984, pg. 4A and the Miami Herald, May 19, 1984.
