Description:
Series of seventy-six upright rectangular bas-relief panels installed to surround the main floor of the Federal Building. Reliefs depict, in an abstract style, symbols and figures which outline the formation of civilizations and the evolution of forms of government.

Remarks:
Commissioned for $19,750 in 1965. Funds provided by the General Services Administration's Art-in-Architecture Program (item FA369). Panels were cast from sandstone composition by Pre-Cast Industries, under the sculptor's supervision. Warrior Constructors built the Federal Building and installed the finished panels. IAS files include transcription of artist's statement pertaining to sculpture and related GSA report.
