Description:
Five rectangular bas-relief panels decorate the door frame around the entrance to Croton Middle School. Four square bas-relief panels are mounted across the balustrade in front of the double stairway entrance to the school. On the doorway, the top panel depicts two figures, one of whom is draped, flanking a quill, book, lamp and bookmark. The lower left panel shows a female in a dance pose. The upper left panel shows a female holding a basketball.
The lower right panel depicts a male holding a retort. The upper right panel depicts a male philosopher or scholar. The ballustrade panels depict partially nude allegorical figures. Each figure is kneeling. From left to right, the panels show: female holding globe or the world and a ship at her side; male holding airplane; male with a torch, a triangle and compass in background; female holding a caduceus and a sun in the background.
