The bond of friendship started after the end of World War II, when the citizens of Arlington, Texas provided food and clothing to the citizens of Bad Konigshofen. The monument is a collaborative project between three Bad Konigshofen artists, Eva Luna Warmuth, Peter Picciani, and Christine Wehe-Bamberger, and three Arlington artists, Benito Huerta, Celia Alvarez Munoz, and Nicholas Wood.
