Medium:  Marble Inscription:  (Artist signature lower right) (On front, above relief:) JANE/MY/WIFE/BORN OCTOBER 20TH 1816/DEPARTED THIS LIFE AUGUST 3RD 1857 signed Description:  Marble monument carved on the front with a relief depicting Jane Griffith standing on the front steps of her brownstone at 109 West 13th Street. Her husband Charles stands on the street, his back turned toward the viewer as he says goodbye to his wife and heads off to work. When he returned at the end of the day, he discovered his wife had died, the victim of heart disease.
