    Description: 
    A fountain sculpture composed of a cluster of stainless steel tubes that point to the North Star. In summer, a mist of water sprays over the sculpture, and in winter, the mist freezes creating icicles. The sculpture evolves as the ice melts and changes formation. Surrounding the sculpture is a concrete moat filled with heated water that is free flowing year round. The moat collects and recycles the fountain water. Surrounding the moat is a large band of flower plantings. Stone boulders and lighting installed by the artist are also included in the installation.

    Remarks: 
    The artist was commissioned in 1983 by the Anchorage Silver Anniversary Task Force to create a summer and winter fountain in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Alaska statehood. The fountain was funded through Alaska's One Percent for Art program. The total cost of the fountain was $358,000. The fountain feature has not worked since 1995 due to underground leaking pipes.
