Nearby, two triangular walls of polished pink granite stand back-to-back. A short granite pedestal is set apart and at an angle from the pedestal supporting the eagle. The installation stands on a brick plaza.

Remarks:
The monument site was designed by Perez; the eagle was sculpted by Kaposta. The idea of the memorial was conceived by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 581. $250,000 was raised for the construction of the memorial. IAS files contain copy of related article from Katy Times, March 18, 1984, which discusses controversy over design changes made to the memorial.
