    Description: 
    Standing figure of Saint Sebastian tied up to a tree. He has a loin cloth stained with blood and arrows in his arms, chest, and legs. His proper right arm is raised and he looks up to heaven. Painting is set within a painted oval band in a rectangular format.

    English title supplied by Inventory cataloger.
    Saint Sebastian was a soldier of the Pretorian Guard under emperors Carinus and Diocletian. When it became known he was a Christian, he was shot with arrows. He survived but was later beaten to death in ca. 288. Believed to be a copy of a Campeche painting by the former owner of the painting, Mrs. Simona de Peralta.
