The sculpture was created while Rietta served as artist-in-residence at Purdue University. Prof. Giorgini provided assistance in engineering and construction of the sculpture; Schanke, Thurston and Patrick provided construction and welding for the project; and Davis was one of several students who assisted on the project. The sculpture was originally installed on the mall between Stanley Coulter Hall and the Chemistry Building. It was later located behind the Krannert building at the corner of State Street and Grant Street before it was moved to its present location.
