Description:
Full-length bronze figures of Icarus and Daedalus. Both figures are winged. Icarus is above Daedalus, his proper right arm and wings are extended skyward. His head is thrown back and his back is arched. Daedalus is below, his wings are extended and parallel with the ground. He reaches up towards Icarus with his proper right hand. His hip rests on the peak of a mountain which is surrounded by clouds. The sculpture rests on a granite base which is situated in the middle of a concrete and stone masonry fountain basin.

Remarks:
The sculpture and fountain were installed as part of the Library Plaza park which was built as part of the Central Little Rock Urban Renewal Project. Cost of the sculpture was $20,000. The sculpture was donated by Raymond Rebsamen, a local businessman. The fountain was designed to allow the sculpture to rotate 360 degrees every hour. Park designed the plaza; Schicker Construction Company served as contractor for the project. IAS files contain related articles from Arkansas Gazette (Little Rock, AR), March 10, March 12, Oct. 27 and Oct. 30, 1967 and Arkansas Democrat (Little Rock, AR), March 9 and Oct. 22, 1967. IAS files contain copy of dedication brochure.
