Description:
The seal of City of Dover placed atop an ornate symmetrical design within the pediment at the entrance to the building. The outer perimeter of the seal contains the inscription. The inner circle of the seal contains a shield divided into an upper half and a lower half. The upper half of the shield is decorated from left to right with a crossed rake and shovel, a plow, and a sheaf of wheat. The lower half of the shield is decorated from left to right with a factory building, a schooner on waves, and a train engine on tracks. The shield is surmounted by an inscribed banner with an arm holding a hammer in the center. A smaller symmetrical design surmounts the seal.

Remarks:
The Town of Dover was settled in 1623 and was incorporated as a city in 1855. The city seal is decorated with symbols celebrating its agricultural and industrial heritage. The municipal building was dedicated on Dec. 27, 1935.
