City of Beatrice, Board of Public Works, 205 North 4th Street, Beatrice Municipal Auditorium, Beatrice, Nebraska 68310
    Remarks:
The Beatrice Municipal Auditorium was erected as a Public Works Administration project. Originally, the relief was to be made of gray Indiana Oolithic (sic) limestone. The proper right hand of the female figure fell off in the 1960s and is now lost. IAS files contain related articles from the Beatrice Daily Sun, Oct. 27, 1939 with a photo of the sculpture intact, and the Lincoln Journal-Star, Aug. 24, 1994. IAS files also include a memo from the City Administrator and copies from the "specs" book used during construction. A contract proposal was sumbitted from Mont. J. Green (Manhattan, Kansas).
