    A plaque mounted in the flower bed in front of the sculpture reads: "In Search of Water/by/E. Omweri Ong'esa, Kenya/In Kisii Stone-1984/In an East African folklore tale about collective/responsibility for survival during an extended/droubt (sic), man and his animal neighbors unsuc-/cessfully dig for underground water. A waiting rabbit, with one kick, finds water, surprising the/tired larger animals, and a man carries a flag up/the mountain to signal success./Gift of Caltex Oil (Kenya) Limited."
