    Description: 
    Granite monument commemorating the Santa Fe Trail. The stone marker is rough-hewn and has a relief carving of an ox yoke and chain. Below the relief is embedded a bronze plaque. The plaque has a bas-relief of a wagon being pulled by an oxen team along the Santa Fe Trail. The relief depicts the oxen turning a bend in the trail; they are led by two men on horseback. At either corner near the bottom of the plaque are the seals of the State of Kansas and the State of New Mexico. The granite marker sits on a stone base which rests on a concrete slab.
