    Description: 
    A rough-cut block of granite with a three dimensional bronze replica of the Marine emblem mounted on top. The Marine emblem has a globe adorned with relief carvings of the continents. An anchor pierces through the sides of the globe and an double-headed eagle with its wings spread is perched on top. On the front and rear of the granite base are two bronze plaques. The rear plaque has a medallion containing a relief portrait of the head of Corporal Merrill Laws Ricketts. The portrait is flanked by two lists of name of those from Hamilton County who died while serving in the Marines during World War I. The front plaque is a bronze drinking fountain commemorating the dedication of the memorial.
