    Description: 
    A stylized figure group consisting of a father, a mother, and a child. The figures recline, with the mother and father on the ends and the child in the middle. The father reads a book while the mother and child listen. The sculpture is placed atop a stone bench.

    Remarks: 
    Funded by the Akron Society of Artists at a cost of $4,000. The sculpture was given in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Akron Society of Artists. The stone used for the sculpture was purchased from North Hill Monument in Akron, Ohio. Gordon Canute, the library's architect, was consulted about the placement of the sculpture. IAS files contain related articles from the Akron Beacon Journal, Sept, 9, 1982; and Sept. 18, 1982.
