Remarks:
The sculpture was created as part of the University's First International Sculpture Symposium in 1965. The sculpture was created by exploding dynamite charges attached to sheet steel underwater. Originally, a concave disc was set in the center of the sculpture and a large reflector was mounted on a surplus radar turret. The turret was driven by a motor actuated by a solar cell to keep the reflector pointed toward the sun, reflecting light on the sculpture. After about a year, the turret failed. With the artist's approval, the reflector was mounted on a stationary base, in order that his original intent would be realized for a portion of each day.
