    A covered footbridge which spans over a gorge of a nature trail. is designed in the form of a finger which is reaching to touch something. It is not perfectly straight, but contoured upward.

    Funded with a National Endowment for the Arts, Art in Public Places grant of $40,000 given in 1985 to the Fairmount Park Art Association. Commissioned by the Fairmount Park Art Association for the Form and Function Project. Fingerspan was donated to the City of Philadelphia. The span was fabricated in sections and installed by helicopter through Larson Helicopter, Inc.
