Description:
Skeleton of a "fossil" caiman set in the earth. The installation consists of several bone structures, the outlines of which are cast concrete. The interior areas of the body and jaw bones are filled with earth and planted. The "teeth" in the concrete jaw bones are inlaid ceramic tile pieces.

Remarks:
The sculpture was funded by a $20,000 mitigation fund from Metro and grants from the Washington State Arts Commission, the Seattle Arts Commission and the Partners In Public Education. Newall and Wiegman were assisted by students of the school, who designed and made the tile teeth. IAS files contain copy of related article from Seattle Times, May 11, 1994.
