Description:
Full-length figure of a Civil War soldier. He wears a uniform, overcoat and cap. A pouch hangs from his proper right shoulder. He holds the barrel of a rifle with both hands. The stock of the gun rests on the ground in front of him. The bronze sculpture stands atop a tall granite pedestal.

Remarks:
Cost of the monument was $2,750; total expenditure for the monument including installation was $3,000. Funds for the monument were raised through a special tax imposed on the towns of Deposit and Sanford (NY). Additional funds were raised by the two communities through fund-raising activities. IAS files contain related excerpt from the Annual Reunion of the Survivors Association Program, pg. 4-5, 34-37.
