    A full-length portrait in granite of former Washington state governor John Rankin Rogers. He wears an overcoat. His proper right hand is in his trouser pocket; his proper left hand rests at his side and holds a scroll. The figure stands atop a tall stone base.

    Remarks: 
    John Rankin Rogers served as governor of Washington from 1897-1901. The sculpture cost $2,500. Funds for the sculpture were raised by school children. IAS files contain copy of related article from Tacoma Daily News, Jan. 19, 1905; copy of inventory from Matt Boyd's "Capitol Campus Statues, Plaques, and Fountains", Olympia, Wash.: State of Washington, Dept. of General Administration, 1987?; and citations for other related articles.
