Formerly located Elwood Building, Northeast corner of State & Main Streets, Rochester, New York 1879-1967
Remarks:
The sculptures were originally located at the 7th story of the Elwood Building built in 1879 by architect James Gould Walker. They remained there until the building was razed in 1967. As part of Rochester's sesquicentennial, they were restored by the Corn Hill Neighbors in cooperation with the City Hall Citizens Committee Subcommittee on Fine Art and Archives and reinstalled on a new monument designed by Ray Nau. The new monument was erected by John C. Pilato, Jr. and his crew from Village Builders. Tott Monuments carved the inscription. IAS files contain related articles from the Corn Hill Gazette (Rochester, New York), Jan. 1984, March 1984, and Nov. 1984.
