    Bust of General Demetrius Ypsilanti stands on a tall pedestal and tiered base. The figure wears a military uniform with epaulets and has a moustache. There is a skull and cross bones emblem on his sash.

    Remarks: 
    Gift of the Order of Ahepa, a society of Greek Americans, as part of their national convention held in Detroit in Aug. 1928. Demetrius Ypsilanti, for whom the town is named, was a general in the Greek army who fought against the Turkish Empire in 1823. IAS files contain an unpublished excerpt from Einar Kvaran's "Annotated Inventory of Outdoor Sculpture in Washtenaw County," 1989.
