    Description: 
    Full-length portrait of the Norse explorer, Leif Erikson. In his proper right hand he holds an axe; in his proper left hand he holds a sword. He wears a necklace with a cross resting on his chest, a helmet, a skirted jacket and over-the-knee boots. The bronze sculpture stands on a bronze self-base atop a tall painted stone mount which surrounds a larger granite base. The painted stone mount stands in a shallow pool.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was designed by committee and sculpted as a group effort by Werner, Nakkerud, Engan and Stende. Funds for the sculpture were collected by the Leif Erikson League, who presented the sculpture to the City of Seattle. Granite used for the base came from Oslo, Norway.
