Leveck & Sons, contractor. Title:  (Nyberg Building Facade), (sculpture). Dates:  1938-1940. Dedicated 1940. Medium:  Carved limestone. Dimensions:  2 relief panels. Each panel: approx. 6 ft. x 8 ft. x 10 in. Description:  Two relief panels on upper facade of a building. The panel on the upper right of the building consists of three figures on a decorative background. At the far left is a rampant dragon. In the center of the panel a stylized nude male figure stands facing the dragon and with his proper right hand thrusts a sword into its belly. With his proper left hand the nude male reaches to a seated, draped female figure with long hair. The panel on the upper left also contains three figures on a decorative background. The central figure is a stylized nude male standing in stride. He raises his proper left to his chest, while his proper right hand reaches down to a seated, draped woman with long hair. To the right of the male, a seated female figure, dressed in a tunic, offers him a wreath. Both relief panels have sword-like forms emerging from the upper left and right corners. The swords seem to represent the double-crossed symbol of the Tuberculosis Society. The facade of the building is decorated in Art Deco style and areas above and around the entranceway contain elements of art nouveau foliage of flowers and greenery. Haralson S. Mott and Ekhart S. Eichenbaum were the principal architects. Inscription above entranceway reads: LEO E. NYBERG/BUILDING/(On plaque) THE GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF/(State seal)/ARKANSAS/(Below plaque, on wall)ARKANSAS TUBERCULOSIS SANATORIUM. IAS files contain partial text of nearby plaque.
