Subject:  Animal -- Dog Occupation -- Service -- Librarian Homage -- Dewey, Melvil Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Massachusetts -- Milford Sculpture Owner:  Milford Town Library, Spruce Street, Hill Park, next to children's wing of library, Milford, Massachusetts 01757 Remarks:  The sculpture was purchased by library board member Paul Curran, during a visit to Quincy. Dick Rizoli, a Milford local car dealer, provided the funding and donated the sculpture to the new library. A "name-the-statue" contest for Milford Elementary School children resulted in the name of Dewey, after Melvil Dewey, the American librarian and founder of the decimal system of classification.
