    Remarks:
The sculpture is a copy of the Madonna sculpture Minerbi designed for the shrine to Mary built in Rome by the Roman Friends of Don Orione in gratitude for Rome having been spared destruction during World War II. The original sculpture is located at Monte Mario and was seen by the Massachusetts commissioner of public works, John A. Volpe, and Biagio Farese, a Boston radio broadcaster, who inquired about obtaining one for Boston. Minerbi agreed to execute a second sculpture and funds amounting to more than $28,000 were collected.
