Description:
Two nearly identical sculptures installed on the lookout points at each end of the Pier on Manhattan Beach. Each sculpture consists of a galvanized steel fence, painted marine green, installed around the outer edge of the concrete lookout point. The horizontal bars of the fence are gently angled upward to create a zig-zag pattern along the top edge. In the center of the fence the bars are angled vertically and a ship's wheel design is placed in the middle. Embedded in a semicircle in the concrete floor of the lookout point are bronze letters which spell out the title of the sculpture. Embedded inside the semicircle are three directional arrows pointing out from a bronze disc engraved with the names of different countries. The countries listed on the north lookout point are: New Zealand, Australia, and Vietnam. The countries listed on the south lookout point are: China, Japan, Russia.
