    Description: 
    A bearded figure of John Augustus Roebling stands dressed in an opened frock coat, vest, trousers, and boots. He extends his proper right arm toward the suspension bridge on the Ohio River and holds a three-sided ruler with his proper left hand. The figure stands on a low base near an adjacent rock that displays Roebling's outlines and details for two bridge designs.

    Remarks: 
    John Augustus Roebling, 1806-1869, designed the Covington and Cincinnati Suspension Bridge and was its chief construction engineer. He moved to New York to design the Brooklyn Bridge but died while surveying the piers for the bridge. IAS files contain transcription of nearby plaque.
