Description:
Large gazebo structure under which a young African-American soldier walks toward an older African-American woman standing on the other side of the gazebo. Nearby stands a small family grouping consisting of a father wearing a military uniform and a woman holding a young boy on her proper left side. The young boy reaches out to his father who extends his arms to pick up the boy.

J. McGarvey. Another nearby plaque lists names of the Allegheny County Vietnam Veterans Monument Committee members. (The names can be read on the photograph of the plaque in the Inventory image files.) Ron Bennett was the design consultant and John Robert Middleton and Ed Dumont were designers on the project.
