    Description: 
    A relief consisting of a male figure at the proper right and a female figure at the proper left, both holding a veil-like form between them. In the center of the veil is a group consisting of a standing male figure on the proper right in the act of pulling to a standing position a female figure with outstretched arms on the proper left. The four figures are nude. According to the artist, Michael Henry, the piece is about the inner turmoil of all human beings, yearning to be independent yet who are interdependent.

    The Crittenden Fine Arts Center commissioned the work through federal and state grants with local matching money. The sculpture's foundation was built by Mid-South Vocational Technical School. IAS files contain related articles from Crittenden-Cross County Times & Shopping Guide (Crittenden, AR), Nov. 6, 1984, pg. 2; and Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN), Dec. 3, 1984, which discuss the controversy surrounding the sculpture's depiction of nudity.
