Description:  Five cast stone bas-relief classical figures symbolizing California and the world are installed on the columns above the first story of the building. Subject:  Figure female -- Full length Allegory -- Place -- California Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- California -- San Francisco Relief Sculpture Owner:  Department of Public Welfare, 585 Bush Street, Columns above first story, San Francisco, California Remarks:  The relief sculptures were excuted in 1935 when the building was constructed as the Administration Office for the Golden Gate International Exposition on property owned by the Board of Education. The relief sculptures were designed by H. M. Michelson, architect in the office of W. P. Day, the building's architects, and the reliefs sculptures were modeled by Henry Gregoire.
