    Remarks:
In the summer of 1915, the idea for a soldier's monument was raised in Goffstown. After much discussion the town approached Henry Parker, a Goffstown native and successful businessman, who was planning to honor his grandfather, Capt. Charles Stinson, with a monument. Feeling that two monuments would be too much for the town, Mr. Parker decided to erect one that both honored his grandfather as well as the soldiers of Goffstown. At its 1916 annual meeting the town accepted Parker's offer of a monument and appropriated $300.00 for the dedication ceremony. The monument was built by Palmer & Garmon of Manchester and erected in memory of the men of Goffstown who served as soldiers or sailors in all American wars.
