Description:
A 25 foot tall monument with a 15 foot stainless steel projection pointing skyward in a giant V-shape, with a lateral Cor-Ten steel piece crossing through both stainless steel projections. The memorial is placed on a base faced with black granite. Two stepped walkways lead up to the memorial and landing. At each end of the landing are aluminum handrails and the Bicentennial logo. Between the walkways are red, white and blue stones.

Remarks:
The memorial honors the men and women of Lake County who served in the Armed Forces. $5,000 in funding was provided by the County Commissioners. The memorial was dedicated on the site of the "old" World War II Veterans honor roll memorial (which had become illegible). Bill Haupt designed the memorial, which was fabricated with assistance from Brock Memorial and Mentor Machines Products. Sandy Brockman carved the inscription text.
IAS files contain copies of newspaper articles from The Telegraph, June 27, 1974, pg. 11 and July 5, 1974; and from News-Herald, June 27, 1974. IAS files also contain list of committee members and transcription of text on nearby markers.
