    Description: 
    A World War I soldier stands holding a flag next to his chest with his proper left hand, extending his proper right arm outward, his hand raised in a 'stop' gesture. The soldier wears a helmet and has his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The copper painted sculpture is mounted on a square base and is surrounded by a low wall with a railing on top. The sculpture is part of a larger war memorial complex that includes monuments to World War II, the Korean, and Vietnam wars, and POW/MIAs. A World War I cannon is also included.

    The sculpture is dedicated to the borough's men who fought and died in World War I. The sculpture cost $4100. The borough raised the funds by issuing four bonds, three worth $1000, and one worth $1100. IAS files contain a document from the Council of the Borough of Bloomingdale.
