    Remarks: 
    The relief is placed above the front doors of the Kansas Aviation Museum, originally the second municipal airport terminal for Wichita. The building was begun in 1929 and dedicated in 1935, partly funded through the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The sculpture was designed from a watercolor sketch made by L. W. Clapp, then President of the Wichita Park Board. Clapp oversaw the construction of the sculpture. Volney McClaren did the modeling and it was fabricated by Cement Stone & Supply Company. Historic Places. IAS files contain article from Wichita Eagle or Beacon, Dec. 15, 1934. Wichita is known as the air capitol of the world. The first commercial plane was produced here and Wichita produces most of the single-engine aircraft in the world.
    The sculpture was covered over by a panel for several years by a base commander, who did not like it. The building is on the National Register of
