Inscription:  (On bronze plaque on front of marble base of sculpture, in raised lettering:) THIS STATUE SCULPTED FROM CARRARA MARBLE, IN/CARRARA, ITALY, IS THE SAME MARBLE FROM WHICH COMES MICHANGELO'S "PIETA," MOSES" AND "DAVID." (On front of base, incised lettering:) ERECTED BY/FRIENDS OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS/COMMITTEE/ARTHUR STIVALETTA CHAIRMAN/(WAKE UP AMERICA)/(list of names continues on all four sides of the base) (On back left hand corner of base:) DESIGNED AND SET BY/ANDREW J. MAZZOLA/NORWOOD MONUMENTAL WORKS INC./NORWOOD, MA Description:  A standing portrait of Christopher Columbus with his arms folded in front of him. In his proper left hand he hold an unfurled scroll. A sword hangs from his belt on his proper left side. Behind his proper right foot is a globe and behind his proper left foot a rope-covered pier. The sculpture is mounted on a large, square base that is surrounded by four granite bollards with iron rings attached to the sides.
