To her proper left is America, who wears a cape, a skirt of leaves, and a feather headdress. Behind her proper right leg is an alligator and by her proper left foot is a woman's head. She has a quiver for arrows slung over her proper left shoulder. To America's proper left stands Africa wearing a disheveled garment and a headpiece. A small lion perches on a rock behind her legs. And to her proper left is Europe in a gown, cape, and Roman helmet. Her proper left hand holds a shield by her proper left leg. Beneath her proper left foot is a book and by her proper right foot is a crown resting on folds of fabric.
