    A nearby plaque reads: FOUNTAIN LAKE MERMAID/LINCOLN PARK - ALBERT LEA, MN/DANISH BROTHERHOOD LODGE #75, SPONSOR/GEORGE BASSETT, SCULPTOR/1994/IN HONOR OF: (two columns, list of sixty-three names)/IN MEMORY OF:/(names in two columns). IAS files contain a partial transcription of names on plaque. The rock for the sculpture was already in the Lake. Danish Brotherhood Statue Fund helped to finance the sculpture. The Sons of Norway and the Golden KII Kiwanis assisted with the project. Matson Crane Service installed the sculpture. The sculpture was inspired by Denmark's story of the "Little Mermaid." IAS files contain a related article from the Albert Lea Tribune, May 13, 1984.
