Remarks:
Gift of the artist to the town of Camden, then called Pine Tree Hill. Piece was placed on the summit of Market Steeple in 1826. It moved with the steeple to Old Tower & Market Streets in 1859. It moved from there to its present location, previously the Opera House, in 1886. King Haiglar, a Catawba chief, was a well known and much liked figure who protected the town against Indian attacks between 1750 and 1763.
