    Description:
Site installation consisting of eight bas-relief panels depicting the history of the Texas panhandle. Two outer panels depict the Texas flag: the flagpole is on the left panel and the flag extends across the right panel. The flag is divided into quilt sections which depict various scenes: an Indian, an eagle, a buffalo hunter, Pampa Army air field pilot and airplanes, quilting, the oil industry, Coronado's exploration, a farm, covered wagons, longhorn cattle, chemical industry, a windmill, and cowboys. The flag is surrounded by local cattle brands. On the reverse side of these panels and on two panels opposite, are ceramic tiles created by schoolchildren. Tile mosaics cover the remaining two panels.

    Remarks:
The Art History Wall project began in 1986 (Texas Sesquicentennial) and was initiated by the Pampa Area Foundation for Outdoor Art. At the time of the SOS! survey in 1994, the project was still ongoing. School children from Pampa, White Deer and Skellytown contributed the ceramic tiles which cover four of the panels. Pampa Art Club Members contributed the mosaic designs on the east two panels. Sanders created the Indian, eagle and buffalo hunter reliefs. Field created the air field relief. Hinkley created the quilting and oil industry relief. Richards created the Plains Indian relief. Mack created the relief of Coronado. Gikas created a farm scene. Epps created the covered wagon scene. Holmes created the relief of longhorn cattle. Bonnell created the chemical industry and Celanese reliefs. Waters created the windmill relief. Minnick and Birkes each created a farm scene. Reagan created the cowboy scene. Hollinswood created the relief of cowboy gear. The sculpture was dedicated Sept. 19, 1990.
