    Description: 
    Standing female figure of Hebe in classical dress holding a pitcher in her proper left hand and offering goblet in her proper right hand. Hebe rests on a circular stepped base which is mounted on the dome of a miniature circular Greek temple. This temple houses a drinking fountain surrounded by four fluted Doric columns. Below the columns is a low round base.

    Bequest of Rosenberg, Joseph, 1891.
    Remarks: 
    Joseph Rosenberg included a bequest of 10,000 dollars in his will for a fountain for the city of his birth. Base and fountain media given as marble in the Index of American Sculpture records, but SOS survey provided granite. At the time the SOS photographs were taken, the fountain portion of the piece was boarded up. The Chicago Park District Monument and Sculpture Photographic Archives contains photographs of the fountain from the 1900s through the present. The Chicago Park District Monument and Sculpture Preservation Files contain conservation treatment reports with slide and black and white photographic documentation. The Chicago Park District also houses blueprints of the monument.
